Clarity is found when water smooths
itself to placid plateaus

a hidden current of dangerous proportions.

Signs of warning strewn about to deter desire

of full immersion in such deceptive stillness

the bare bottom of deep depths exposed.

Clarity, a mysterious mistress of duplicity.

For the moment you trust what you see

she shifts to white foamed speeds of forced direction

and you have no power to control its crashing course.

And you will be afraid.

You will be injured.

But if you survive and plunge over its final violent edge

clarity may once again captivate your courage

for the next fall of adventure.

Written and released at Huka Falls in Taupo, NZ. Huka means sugar in Maori.
