Rangiora Released is a poetry project inspired by the natural environments in New Zealand during a yearlong solo exploration of the country in 2014. The free write poems were written on Rangiora leaves, a native plant only found in the NZ bush, and then released back into the environment where each was written. All poems are available below.

Visit the Art Gallery to see "Muddy As" and "Clarity Before Huka Falls" which were exhibited as part of the 2015 From Her: an Exhibition by Women about Women at the Pico House Gallery in Los Angeles.

Rangiora Released

The photographs displayed on each poem's page are in categorical order of environment, creation, and release -- each to serve as evidence of the poem's surroundings, existence, and journey. As each leaf disappears from view, whether destroyed or hopefully found by another, it must always be released. It is this entire process of letting go that I find speaks so strongly to a woman's relationship with nature in this project. In every woman's life there are moments where we must let nature take its course. When we relax into this reality we find our femininity, our courageous spirit, and above all else, the beauty, mystery and wisdom of Mother Nature reflected in all we do and create. It is a relationship that is not embraced or forced, but purely exists when we give up our right to define and perfect it.

Enjoy Rangiora Released and the ultimate organic experience of freedom it portrays.
